The Cushe x Hoffman Collaboration

We don't often get super excited……which is a total lie, as we are typically super excited about something... but this is big. We're really proud to announce that we are pairing up with the legendary Hoffman California Fabrics for an exclusive line in our spring / summer 2014 collection! In case you don't know, which, totally NBD since you have about a billion things to know in your world, Hoffman has been famously creating authentic Hawaiian and Balinese prints that have helped define beach culture since 1924. Awesome. Still going strong today; double up on the awesome. In the 1950's, Walter and Philip, sons of founder Rube Hoffman, joined the company. This is pretty rad since both of these guys were champion surfers during the golden age of the SoCal scene, and basically invented the Cushe Life. So... what we're trying to say is, Hoffman is pretty damn legit, and we're stoked and honored to be working with them.

The team at Hoffman creates nearly 800 beautifully unique patterns a year, and they are masters at capturing that Aloha spirit. This made our job tough, because we could only select a few from the current and archive designs made available to the Cushe design crew. We grabbed some amazing heritage screen prints, and some wildly unpredictable Bali Batiks that created the right vibe and compliment to our upcoming designs.Check out an itty bitty sneak peek below, and stay tuned for more looks into the line.

Beat the Heat

The sun is finally shining! It’s time to get your feet out and enjoy the sunshine. We have to admit that our favorite summer activity is carving up the waves or just relaxing at the beach. But what to do when the weather is hot and there is no beach in sight? Here are some suggestions from the team at Cushe…

The Slip N’ Slide. A total classic and occasionally dangerous depending on the surface underneath the thin vinyl slide. Getting a good sprint going before launching yourself down the yellow runway was always a point of pride.
Water guns. For most people, water guns were the first arms race of our lives. Once the first person on the block got a Super Soaker, you needed one, only bigger so as to deter the others from attacking you. I know what you are saying – running around and having a squirt gun fight with my adult friends is just going to make me hot. And that is exactly why you fill the water guns with ice water. Duh.

Water balloons. First off, no, these do not belong with water guns. A balloon fight is its own animal and it usually breaks out with someone catching an unexpected water balloon to the back. Once the first balloon is thrown, you must know that this battle won’t end until everyone is soaked. Or someone gets the hose out and puts the nozzle on Jet. This is a good thing though, since the point is to cool down. Take it like a champ… and retaliate.

The kiddie pool. This isn’t the same low rent action you might remember from back in the day. You can get some sweet digs that will fit you and a few friends.  This is actually a two part-er, because it’s absolutely essential that you pair this with a stubby & beverages. Kind of an unwritten rule though for dudes – no Speedos in the little pools.
