We welcome Sophie Hellyer!
Cushe are proud to welcome surfer and traveller Sophie Hellyer to our team of ambassadors. Aged 25, Sophie has been surfing for over 10 years now, and is based in North Devon. She grew up at the beach, where her dad taught her to surf. Speaking about the inspiration behind her surf career, Sophie said, “My big sister ripped and I wanted to be just like her!” In her first year of competing Sophie won the English Junior Women’s Nationals, and the British Schools Women’s Nationals. She was then on the English Team for several years in a row and was a popular face on the competition circuit. Sophie has stopped competing now, but still loves to get in the water regularly, enjoying surfing at her local reef with her sister and friends.
To kick off her journey with us, Sophie recently travelled to Costa Rica with us to shoot our next summer footwear collection and experience first hand why Cushe is the perfect choice for the laid back traveller who loves to explore new places. An avid traveller, Sophie’s surf career has taken her to over 25 countries and she said, “I have a lot more on my list to tick off, I LOVE an adventure! My Costa Rica trip with Cushe was AMAZING. I've always wanted to go there and it didn't disappoint. The waves were perfect everyday, and the whole crew was super fun. We did a road trip 9 hours down into the jungle in a four wheel drive, and rented a huge house overlooking a right hand pointbreak. The scenery looked just like Jurassic Park, which has now become the theme tune for the trip!”
She continued, “I’m Looking forward to a potential cold water trip with Cushe now, and am looking forward to seeing the wintery side of Cushe, and trying out some warm boots rather than flip flops!”
The Cushe team went to Scotland to road test our next collection, see our snaps of the breathtaking views, comfy feet and one incredible treehouse! We worked very hard (Honest!) testing at the beach and in the pub and yes, it's official, the shoes are awesome!
We love a lazy morning spent reading the Sunday Papers, especially when they feature our new season collection! The Mail on Sunday's brilliant Live magazine's features our Vinyl Slip Matt in charcoal for their 'Live the Look' special Plimsoles feature!
