Cushe at the Brits 2011

Want to know what we were getting up to at The Brits in Laax, Switzerland earlier this week?  Well it wasn't all fondu, sunny mountain top lunches and drinks at the CrapBar we'll have you know, and the best person to fill you in is Cushe ambassador and professional skier Becky Hammond.

This great 4 page interview with Becci in Adventure 52 magazine tells you all about our time at The Brits including how the professionals perfect their tricks using the awesome Cushe airbag, Becky's adventure and apres ski tips to Laax and if that wasn't enough, we've also included some of our pics of what was going on behind the scenes including this amazing real life Sitting Boy logo getting some serious air!

Laid-Back in Laax

Becky's Cushe Apres Ski Guide to the Brits:

Pro Skier Becky Hammond offers us a more laid-back guide to the Swiss ski resort hosting the Brits 2011 next month (20-27th March).  Becky has put together her insider tips and recommendations on the very best places to relax and enjoy off the slopes so even novices can be part of the action.

After you’ve enjoyed Laax’s best hang-outs, you may also feel like watching some of the Britain’s best professional skiers and snowboarders fall over?  Well because we're very nice we've decided to provide the competitors a safe landing from the Cushe Airbag which is as soft as the memory foam in our shoes and allows the skiers and snowboarders to throw themselves into death defying stunts and land safely for your viewing pleasure.

Becky (sporting her Diva Boots of course) and the Cushe team will be in Laax to test out the Laid Back Guide…we mean the Cushe Airbag, and will report back.

The best places to eat: "I love the Noodle bar at The Rocks and Little China in Flims and both places do great takeaways, and you’re looking for a late night snack Films also has a kebab café!  If you’re on the mountain then Café No Name serves good Paninis or if you’re on more of a budget then you can eat your pack lunch downstairs."

Great places to stay: "For cool apartments in an excellent location stay in The Rocks - you can’t get closer to the slopes and you even have your own steam room in your apartment! If you’re on a budget then the Capricorn Hostel is nice and you can book bunk rooms or have a private twin room with an en-suite."

Cool places hang out: "On the Mountain try the Café No Name, it’s a great location and you can watch all the park action with a drink. For Apres ski action the Crapbar and Indy Bar are great."

The best place to shop: "I really like Flims, the supermarket called COOP is great and there’s plenty of great clothes shops.  if you’re travelling with a car there are supermarkets down the valley in Llanz, which is about a 10 minute drive away."

Getting about: "The local buses are free around Laax and Flims and getting to Laax from Zurich airport is easy; use the local rail network, its always on time!"

Day 3 at the BRITS

OK, so there's the night before to talk about and then all the action from the following day...

The night before

After the sucess of the Huckfest, a bouyant BRITS crowd desended on the Indy Bar at the bottom of the slope for a jolly Cushe party. Warming the crowd up was Seb Kern, who played a quality old skool Drum n bass set, leaving the crowd pumped and waiting for more from the headlinners, Urban Knights. These guys hit the stage, took stock and conquered, with some brainshaking dubstep and breaks. Sonically awesome, visually incredible, the Urban Knights were the guardians of all thats sacred and revered about the BRITS.

The action from the following day

Skier Cross and snowboard halfpipe were on the menu today. We had a particular interest as Becky was competiting in the finals of the skier cross finals and i'm very pleased to announce that Becky was once again on the podium, coming in 3rd after a crash halfway up the slope with the 4th place competitor. Nice one Becky!!!

In the snowboarding halfpipe, historically the blue ribbon event with the big guns all coming out to play, we we're treated to some explosive action in all catagories. In the womens, Animal rider and GB star Kate Foster took gold and in the mens, young buck, Jamie Nicholls took the honours with a trick he's learnt in practice that day.

All in all another corker of a day and muchos fun had by all.

More from day 4 tomorrow.
